What We Do

We work to remove obstacles and equip young athletes with the support, they need to Play Forever.

Our Aim

Through our work, we hope to be able to reduce and eliminate barriers preventing kids from playing or being involved in the sports we love.

Our aim is to remove financial, safety, or community barriers from young athletes' access to, and ability to play, sports.

“The kids were so engaged and the PF team and Sandlot cast were so much fun and inspirational. We absolutely welcome you guys back not only in September for the gym ribbon cutting, but truly, anytime”

— Sydney Perkins | Director of Resource Development Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City

Why We're Here

We believe that playing any sports as kids or young adults grows character, teaches valuable life skills such as communication and sportsmanship, and builds resiliency through competition. But, not everyone is able to participate in sports, and we want to remove barriers that make playing sports inaccessible for many of today's youth.

We recognize that there are many barriers to sports that make it difficult, if not impossible for kids to have equitable access to sports throughout their childhoods.

FINANCIAL

Financial barriers are the first of many that prohibit kids from playing sports. From the cost of equipment to transportation costs, to league fees, to school tuition, financial barriers are prohibitive for many young athletes. For challenged athletes who need adaptive sports equipment need to compete, these costly medical devices may be financially out of reach.

COMMUNITY

Community barriers to sports include safe places to play and practice or access to healthy foods that help athletes grow strong. Fields, courts, and rinks that go dark at sunset remove a safe place for kids to assemble.

Derelict sports fields that are too long ignored and in disrepair are not only community eyesores but community hazards.

SOCIAL

We recognize there are social barriers for athletes of all genders, especially those identifying as female and LGBTQ+, as well as for athletes of color and those whose first language is not English.

These athletes face additional barriers that make it challenging to start or continue playing sports.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

Essential to us is providing affordable, accessible, welcoming opportunities for all young athletes to achieve their dreams, regardless of age, gender, orientation, race, ethnicity, or ability.

COMMUNITY

We aim to address everyday challenges to create an even playing field for all athletes by engaging community partners in our mission to empower the next generation of athlete-leaders, both individually or collectively.

WHOLE-PERSON ATHLETICS

We believe that sports don’t end with the buzzer and athletes need holistic opportunities for building healthy habits, through healthy foods, education, and community-building to develop the critical life-skills that are learned on and off the field
